Audi reveals Australian pricing for luxury electric SUV Q8 55 e-tron


Audi has unveiled the pricing and specifications for its new Q8 55 e-tron luxury electric SUV in the Australian market. Positioned as a high-end offering, the Q8 55 e-tron will be available in two variants, along with a special Launch Edition. The prices for the Audi Q8 variants at launch are as follows: the Audi Q8 55 e-tron will be priced at $153,900 before on-roads, the Audi Q8 Sportback 55 e-tron will be priced at $165,900 before on-roads, and the Audi Q8 55 e-tron Launch Edition will also be priced at $165,900 before on-roads.

The Launch Edition of the Q8 55 e-tron will come with additional sporty and interior features on top of the standard model. These features include 21-inch Audi sport alloy wheels in metallic black, black styling of the Audi logo rings, mirror caps, and roof rails. The interior of the Launch Edition will feature special leather on the steering wheel, unique upholstery stitching, and stainless steel pedals.

Jeff Mannering, director of Audi Australia, expressed excitement about welcoming the Q8 e-tron to the Australian market, stating that it offers a perfect combination of luxury and high everyday usability.

Both the standard Q8 e-tron and the Sportback variant have reduced their co-efficient of drag for improved real-world efficiency. The standard Q8 e-tron has a co-efficient of drag of 0.27, while the Sportback variant has a co-efficient of drag of 0.24.

For the driving experience, the Q8 e-tron comes with air suspension as standard, which adjusts the damping for different road conditions. The vehicle is powered by a 300kW electric motor that delivers 664 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. The Q8 e-tron is equipped with a 114 kWh battery that supports fast charging speeds of up to 170 kW. Audi claims that the battery can be charged from 10-80% in 31 minutes and provides a WLTP range of up to 454 km.

To support charging, Audi is offering a six-year public charging subscription via Chargefox to all e-tron customers. This subscription provides unlimited charging at ultra-rapid chargers and selected fast and standard chargers in the Chargefox network.

In terms of safety, the Q8 55 e-tron is packed with features such as parking sensors, a 360-degree camera with a kerb view function, adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, head-up display, lane departure warning, lane change warning, rear cross-traffic assist, intersection assist, autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, collision avoidance assist, turn assist, exit warning, hold assist, tyre pressure loss indicator, and Audi drive select.

The Audi Q8 e-tron comes with a six-year scheduled servicing and roadside assistance package, as well as a five-year warranty on the car and an eight-year warranty on the battery.

The Q8 55 e-tron and the Q8 55 Sportback e-tron are set to arrive in Australia in the fourth quarter of 2023, while other models in the Q8 e-tron range will be launched locally in 2024.
