Mercedes-Benz has introduced a more affordable variant of its EQS range in Australia. The EQS 450 4Matic sedan is priced over $100,000 cheaper than the previously launched AMG edition, but still comes with a price tag of over $200,000. The new model is equipped with a dual-motor powertrain that delivers 265 kW and up to 800 Nm of torque, making it one of the most responsive sedans in the Mercedes-Benz lineup. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 5.6 seconds. Inside the EQS 450 4Matic, buyers will find a range of luxury features, including a 710-watt Burmester 3D surround sound system, THERMOTRONIC four-zone climate control, heated and cooled front seats, a head-up display, premium MBUX navigation with augmented reality display, active ambient lighting with 64 color options, a glass panoramic sliding sunroof, advanced DIGITAL LIGHT headlights, and various safety features such as active parking assist and a 360-degree camera.

The safety features offered in the entry-level EQS include the Driving Assistance Package Plus, which includes DISTRONIC Active Distance Assist, active lane keeping assist, traffic sign assist, route-based speed adaptation, active traffic assist, active steering assist, active lane change assist, and the PRE-SAFE Impulse Side accident preparation system.

The EQS 450 4Matic starts at $219,900 before on-road costs, which is significantly cheaper than the flagship EQS 53 AMG 4Matic+ starting at $327,075. The new variant is available for order now, with deliveries expected to begin in September 2023.
